Correction Policy

Karnataka Times is committed to accurate, fair and responsible journalism.
When errors occur, we correct them transparently and as quickly as possible.

Identifying Errors

  • Errors may be identified internally by our editorial team.
  • Readers, sources and organisations may also point out mistakes or missing context.

Types of Corrections

  • Minor edits: Spelling, grammar or formatting corrections that do not change the meaning of the article.
  • Substantive corrections: Errors that affect facts, figures, names, places, quotes or important context.
  • Updates: New information added to keep an article current and complete.
  • Clarifications: Additional details to remove ambiguity or possible misunderstanding.

How We Correct Content

  • Substantive corrections are clearly mentioned within the article, usually at the top or bottom.
  • The correction or update note briefly explains what was changed and why.
  • We do not delete articles solely to hide errors, except in rare cases of serious ethical or legal concerns.
